Job summary

A CNC Machine Operator 2 runs various CNC and Manual lathes, mills, and other machinery to fabricate a variety of parts to close tolerances. A CNC Machine Operator 2 can do most of the setups and tool change-overs for the machines they run, adjust tool offsets, and perform basic machine maintenance. The may require guidance to make part adjustments or CNC program edits. The operator is able to tend and feed materials into all assigned machines and make necessary measurements to verify part quality.

There are 5 bar-fed CNC Swiss lathes (Fanuc), 1 Haas VF2 VMC, 2 specialized semi-automatic saws, and 1 manual lathe in the work cell.

The operator is responsible for completing two change-overs on the Swiss lathes per day, in addition to operations on the Haas VMC and saws (work is shared amongst the CNC team). This position is for 1st shift, and will include a training period with our CNC Machine Operator 3.

This position is located in the SODO district of Seattle, Washington.

Essential functions

  • Manufactures components to meet the demand of the in-house product assembly lines.
  • Demonstrates ability to set up and operate machines and work to close tolerances.
  • Checks the accuracy of work using a variety of precision measuring tools and maintains quality records.
  • Understands and performs minor edits to CNC programs.
  • Ensures consistent throughput and quality by following drawings and work instructions.
  • Is responsible for accomplishing production rates set by Shift Supervisor.
  • Accurately updates raw material and finished parts inventory systems.
  • Ensures a safe work area by following safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintains cleanliness of their work areas as directed by Shift Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn new operations, setups, and change-overs for various products and machines.

Minimum requirements

  • One year of verified experience as a CNC machine operator (references required).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Must have basic math and writing skills.
  • Must have working comprehension of manual G-code.
  • Must be able to use applicable metrology tools to perform quality inspections.
  • Must be able to read and interpret part drawings, understand basic GD&T.
  • Must demonstrate consistent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work extended hours when needed.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test (not including Cannabis).

Physical requirements

Must be able to lift 50lbs on a daily basis.

Must be able to perform repetitive tasks.

Must be able to stand for a 10 hour shift.

Must be able to work in a factory environment with possible noisy and hot/cold conditions.
