About the client:
Our client is an award-winning manufacturer of a wide variety of cannabis products. Their catalog is one of the largest and most diverse in the industry. They are a leader in Washington and currently opening a facility in California. They prefer unique products which are difficult to duplicate and therefore do not sell easy products, such as Flower. They are a start-up company and progressing very quickly. They have an extensive candy line, gluten-free edible line, and specialty product lines, such as tinctures and topicals.
The Role
The right person will have superb organizational and communication skills, with the proven ability to implement effective operational systems and create and manage projects. Additionally, the right person must have strong communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver successful finance presentations and to collaborate and negotiate effectively.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Has 5-6 years of experience with a company in the consumer packaged goods space, specifically working for a company that focuses on food and beverage.
- Understands the ins and outs of food costs and ordering.
- Can wear multiple hats, and is willing to step in and help in all areas of finance and accounting as needed.
- Is willing to live in WA, and move with the company to Palms Springs CA, when the new facility is built.
- Has worked with QuickBooks and Zoho books
- Has experience with transitioning data from one CRM to a new platform
- Is technically savvy and very well versed in Excel.

Role and Responsibilities
The Financial Controller reports directly to the C Level executives and is responsible for the following:
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of the companies operations;
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics;
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecast;
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management;
- Provide for a system of management cost reports:
- Provide financial analyses as needed; in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations;
- Responsible for the filing of quarterly and annual reports with IFRS;
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures;
- Manage outsourced functions;
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives; and
- Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and
Additional Duties:
- Provide executive level support to 2 senior
- Manage all bookkeeping and provide monthly reports, including bank reconciliations for all accounts, credit card reconciliation, invoices and payments,
- Prepare biweekly Payroll and file-associated taxes, L+I
- Prepare financial reports
- Manage Petty cash, expenses and reimbursement reports
