*Summary
*This GGSPro Technical Specialist role serves to increase company sales by supporting the sales team and customers with technical and cultural solutions specific to production of edible and cannabis crops under cover (e.g. greenhouse, warehouse, high tunnels). Support is provided via phone, email, site visits, webinars, and bulletins for all stages of crop production (propagation to harvest), with a focus on crop nutrition, crop protection, crop physiology, scouting and diagnostic support for both organic and conventional production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve the Griffin sales team to increase consumable product sales in the CEA arena, with a focus on fertilizers, supplements, media, crop protection, sanitation and other related products
  • Develop and deliver bulletins, webinars, and other tools to increase technical expertise
  • Provide personalized fertility and crop protection programs
  • Provide technical information for sell sheets and other sales tools
  • Develop and deliver internal training webinars
  • Visit Griffin customers with sales staff to build Griffin value and increase sales
  • Share market trends and needs with the CEA Division Leader
  • Provide on-demand technical and cultural support to the sales team and grower customers to resolve production issues in conventional and organic systems
  • Provide diagnostic assistance, technical (product) and cultural support via phone, email web-based and other technology platforms
  • Suggest best practices for crop production
  • Recommend curative, preventative and mitigation strategies to correct crop production concerns
  • Develop and deliver customer facing webinars and bulletins that provide solutions to common or shared issues highlighting Griffin products
  • Provide technical support to business managers, marketing and other internal team members
  • Evaluate new product opportunities for technical merit
  • Provide new product bulletins and deliver internal technical presentations to support new product launches
  • Provide technical information to support marketing efforts and review marketing documents for technical accuracy
  • Write CEA-centric articles for Griffin publications and shared content for trade media partners
  • Prepare and deliver CEA technical presentations for Griffin sponsored events, grower meetings and other industry events
  • Staff Griffin events, such as trade shows, Expos and educational events
  • Maintain product knowledge and expertise for current and emerging products and production methods
  • Participate in cross-training activities with the GGSPro department
  • Research emerging trends and products in trade publications, scientific journals and web-based resources
  • Develop and maintain relationships with supplier, industry and academic experts and key opinion leaders

Competency

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Education and Experience

BS or advanced degree in horticulture, agriculture, plant sciences, biology, entomology or related field required. Work experience in controlled environment, greenhouse, horticulture or agriculture production preferred. Education or work experience to include organic production methods.

Communication Skills

Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Submission of writing samples examples required.

Technology Skills

Moderate skill set for word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software expected. Strong web-based research skills required. Demonstration of spreadsheet skills should be expected.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel should be expected, with possibility for seasonal peaks. Travel will be regional and national with overnight stays and will include travel by car and airline.
