Job description:

The Cannabis Law group of Greenspoon Marder LLP seeks outstanding candidates with real estate, land use, and/or regulatory compliance experience to join our Portland, Oregon office as an associate. The Cannabis Associate will be responsible for assisting our cannabis business clients in acquiring property and negotiating leases, obtaining land use and OLCC licensing approvals, and maintaining regulatory compliance in a highly regulated industry. Interested candidates must have at least two years’ experience as a practicing attorney (experience as a certified law student or full time extern may be considered). The Cannabis Associate will receive support and direction from other attorneys within the firm, but successful candidates must be independently motivated and highly organized. Experience in the cannabis industry, either as an attorney, business owner, or advocate is desirable.

Requirements

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will have the following skills, abilities, and experience:

  • 2-5 years of real estate, land use, and/or regulatory compliance experience for businesses in a highly regulated industry
  • Knowledge of and experience with Oregon’s cannabis industry (or, at minimum, a demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn)
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage several projects with minimal to no supervision
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while efficiently managing time and priorities
  • Desire and ability to learn the constantly evolving landscape of cannabis law and be independently motivated to learn and improve abilities and skills
