Job Description

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for assisting in the assurance of quality client care. Responsible for the close monitoring of Residential clients and providing day-to-day supervision of
those clients as well as maintaining their wellbeing and security. This position is responsible for assisting the professional staff in the assurance of quality client care. In addition to the provision of routine client care, the Technician's duties focus on reducing or minimizing the effects of substance abuse. This position’s secondary responsibility of for the safe transportation of clients in a company vehicle to and from different locations. This position is also part of the multidisciplinary team providing treatment in accordance with the Substance Abuse Manual guidelines. Topics include: nature of the disease, nature of the addiction, family illness, dynamics, medical aspects of the addiction, values, morals, social skills, stress management, peer pressure, relationships, 12-Step recovery process, cannabis, cocaine and alcohol knowledge.

Qualifications

SCHEDULE:
Must be available for one or more of the following shifts: 8a-4p, 4p-12a, or 12a-8a
Must be available for at least two shifts per week.

License/Certification/Special Requirements:

  • Valid Florida Driving License with acceptable driving record, as required to transport clients in a 12-passenger.

  • TACT, First Aid, and CPR certification required within first 30 days of hire.

    Education, Training, Years of Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • One year of relevant residential program experience is highly desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work in a highly visible position and use effective interpersonal communication skills to respond to clients and their families.

  • Knowledge of 12-Step programs is desireable.

  • Ability to write concise reports within 24 hours of event or as required by program.

  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

  • High level of organizational skills.
