Associate Counsel- Real Estate
Summary
This position is primarily responsible for growing the company’s commercial real estate practice in conjunction with the Senior Real Estate Attorney, Vice President of Real Estate, SVP of Legal and Chief Strategy Officer.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft commercial leases and purchase and sale agreements
- Represent the company in all aspects of commercial real estate acquisition process from diligence through closing; title review.
- Evaluate legal and business risks association with the adoption of real estate, environmental, and financing strategies
- Draft and negotiate loan documents for project finance, commercial leases, and construction contracts for project development
- Provide support to the project development team to secure necessary governmental and other stakeholder approvals for new projects
- Assist compliance team with zoning and land use issues as needed
- Manage landlord relations and be primary point of contact between landlord and facilities team
- Represent the company as borrower in financing transactions
Required Qualifications
- JD and CA bar
- 3+ years commercial real estate experience in law firm setting (or applicable in-house setting) drafting and negotiating commercial leases and purchase agreements, closing purchases and structuring financing transactions.
- Must be able to excel in extremely fast paced atmosphere
Preferred
- Medium/big firm experience
- Familiarity with cannabis industry
- Network of real estate professionals
- Land use/entitlement experience
