Curaleaf NJ is seeking an Assistant Head Grower, the successful candidate will help to manage and maintain a controlled growing environment and sustain plant health as directed by the Head Grower or the Director of Cultivation. The Assistant Head Grower will also be responsible for various other duties such as data collection, analyzation of different plant strains, methods to help increase strain yield, and supervising employees.
Tasks/Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the day to day duties involved in cultivation. Create task lists and execute them in a timely manner.
- Maintain appropriate irrigation/fertigation frequencies for all plant material.
- Oversee IPM and record insect populations weekly in the grow rooms.
- Plant, space, prune and maintain crops as instructed by management.
- Oversee application of IPM controls to all crops of responsibility.
- Maintain the internal management system. Transplant material in the system in timely manner.
- Oversee the collection of detailed data in the grow room once per week.
- Supervise labor, assign tasks and check on completion.
- Participate in R&D Department meetings as required.
- Must be flexible with hours, the candidate must have the ability to come early or stay late if needed, may have to working some holidays.
- Must learn and be able to perform all tasks of the employees you supervise.
- Supervise the safety, orderliness and cleanliness of the work environment to ensure that safety requirements are maintained.
Critical Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field
- Advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant and genetics strongly preferred, though a strong agricultural background may be considered
- Must demonstrate accountability, proactive behavior and strong attention to detail
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to perform physical requirements necessary to the position, including standing for long periods of time, walking the grow, and able to lift 50 pounds.
Experience
- At least 1-year experience as a supervisor, manager, or team leader, in either the horticulture, cannabis, or agricultural industries or related fields.
Skills
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Work well independently and as a part of a team.
- Accurately gather and record data.
- Must be familiar with inventory tracking software such as Biotrack, must know how to use Microsoft programs such as Excel, or Word.
- Possess familiarity with moisture and nutrient management procedures.
