The WSLCB Information Technology Services Division (ITSD)
The (ITSD) of the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) is a fast-paced, quickly adapting part of our business and is integral in finding, implementing and maintaining systems for our agency.

Your opportunity at a glance
The ITSD is announcing a permanent opportunity for an API/Software Automation Tester (IT Specialist 4). As an integral part of the Application Development Team, this position reports to the Software Quality Assurance Supervisor and performs senior level quality assurance testing by providing general applications technical knowledge of software development for both internal and externally facing web and Windows application systems. The ideal candidate will have the skills, knowledge and ability to plan, develop, lead and execute API and software automation testing. Additionally, this position supports existing and future WSLCB applications, by providing quality assurance for software applications, databases, and deployments for medium to highly complex modifications with little to no instructions using both manual and automated test processes.

Duties
  • Design, develop and perform thorough manual and automated regression testing of applications GUIs, data conversions, system upgrades, system integrations and various interfaces including APIs.
  • Create and execute API and automated regression tests.
  • Lead, estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities on multiple projects.
  • Use advance SQL commands to prepare data for testing, validate data integrity, create scripts to compare and validate data results from testing.
  • Leverage Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) or Team Services Foundation (TFS), Test Manager (MTM) and other software test tools.
  • Troubleshoot, determine business impact, resolve or escalate issues resulting from failed tests.
  • Liaise with internal teams of developers, product owners, analysts, system administrators to identify system requirements and other assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications

Qualifications
Required:

  • Expert level knowledge of manual and automation testing.
  • Expert level experience in GUI and API testing.
  • Solid working-level knowledge and skills in transact SQL commands and scripting.
  • Working level knowledge of iterative development techniques, such as Agile.
  • Expert level writing skills in test plan, test case, test scenarios and test execution.
  • Expert workload management skills to take part in multiple projects.
  • Expert presentation, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills when communicating to internal IT personnel as well as users in the business units.
  • Participate and tackle challenges without stress or pressure and maintain positive work relationships with the team members
Preferred/Desired:
  • A valid Software and application testing certificate of training completion.
    • Quality Assurance Institute (QAI)
    • American Society for Quality (ASQ)
    • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB)
    • International Institute for Software Testing (IIST)
  • Post-secondary education and/or degree in an Information Technology or related field. experience in working in an environment where IT security best practices, policies, and procedures are required and audited, with having responsibility for enforcing and administering the policies and procedures
  • 4 years of professional experience in Quality Assurance and one of the following IT disciplines: business analysis or systems development.

As a condition of employment, the candidate accepting this position will be required to comply with the Union Security clause contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the State of Washington and the union.
