5 years experience with analytical chemistry – HPLC, GC, or MS. HPLC MS experience preferred
2 years experience with method development and validation
Experienced with instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
Knowledge of important software including Microsoft applications (Windows, Word, Excel) as well as chromatography software (Empower, Chemstation)
Sample preparation experience – biological samples a plus, skill with pipettes and volumetric glassware a must
Attention to detail – applicants must be able to be trusted with important tasks that require precision and care without much supervision
Job duties:
Sample preparation: weighing, diluting, and extracting analytes from a variety of sample types including cannabis flower, edible and smokable extracts, and food products
Sample dilution: diluting samples to the appropriate concentration using pipettes
Solution preparation: mobile phases, diluent, and standard/QC preparation
Assist with inventory and ordering supplies
Data handling: interpretation and quantification of raw chromatographs as well as printing out and organization of quantified data for reporting
Troubleshooting and maintaining laboratory instruments
Developing and validating analysis methods as well as writing clear and concise SOPs for their implementation
Evaluate and report materials/reagents expenses for running methods
Assist with selecting and purchasing materials and instruments
Train new employees on safety, laboratory techniques, and equipment operation/maintenance
Participate in the continuous improvement of laboratory techniques, workflow, and analysis procedures
