SUMMARY:
To provide accurate and precise chemical analyses at Coastal Cannalytics. as necessary to support the business activities. An Analytical Chemist’s duties and responsibilities includes, but are not be limited, sample preparation, analysis, calculation, and reporting of results.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Follow all safety procedures within the laboratory at all times
- Perform analyses on cannabis samples with varying methodologies on instruments such as HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS, and ICP-MS
- Interpret, record, and report scientific results
- Assist in the development and validation of methods and equipment
- Ensure routine testing submitted by clients is completed within turnaround time and quality-of-work expectations
- Effectively troubleshoot and perform equipment tuning and maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control
- Participate in the preparation/review process for laboratory SOPs and forms/worksheets
- Perform related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university
- 2 years of experience analyzing data via instruments such as HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP-MS preferred
- Previous experience working in an accredited lab environment or in cannabis industry preferred
- Experience with testing cannabinoid potency, pesticide residues, residual solvents, heavy metals, water activity, and mycotoxins preferred
SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be comfortable working with cannabis
- Quick learner, ability to think critically
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
- Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally)
- Proficient in Excel
- Must be able to keep accurate records of all work performed in the lab
- Previous LIMS use preferred

Salary: $40,000.00 to $45,000.00 /year
