Advertising Designer

Are you ready to take the next step in your design career? The News & Review is looking for an additional part-time designer to assist us with creating awesome advertisements for our clients each week.

The Advertising Designer functions as a member of the Design Team, which is responsible for creative solutions for editorial, marketing, corporate and sales challenges. This includes Sacramento and Reno editorial design, Sacramento supplements (client and/or editorial), and all marketing materials for Sacramento, Chico and Reno. A major requirement of this position is to consistently exhibit exceptional visual, oral and written communication skills and teamwork ability with the Design Team, Sales departments, and all our internal and external clients.

Hours:

Wednesday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm

Essential Designer Duties:

• Designs, produces and finalizes kick-ass client advertisements for the Sacramento, Chico, and Reno News & Review
• Carries a full design load and makes efficient use of time - offers to help other designers when able
• Serves as an active, positive and responsible member of the Design Team
• Exhibits strong communication and teamwork ability, specifically when navigating design requests from Sales Reps
• Ensures the confidentiality of the News & Review and all clients
• Helps maintain a safe and functional work environment
• Stays cool as a cucumber under deadline pressures

You Must Be:

• Proficient on Mac and other technology included scanners and digital cameras, and willing to improve your skills
• Well-versed with the ins and outs of InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
• Experienced with digital file creation and management
• Open-minded with design requests from Clients, members of the Design Team, and Sales Reps

Your Education and Experience:

• Associate's Degree or the equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Three years of desktop publishing or graphic design experience required, publication experience preferred

We have historically provided members of the cannabis business and adult business communities opportunities to advertise, as well as private parties seeking relationships through the personals. A great deal of this advertising is handled through our classified department. As an employee of News & Review, you may observe transactions involving cannabis products and services, and personal or adult advertisers. These transactions may include suggestive or sexual visual material, and suggestive or sexual information being relayed over the telephone or by email. Additionally, the editorial content of our newspaper is often edgy and sometimes controversial.
