Rare opportunity for a unique individual to join the Accounting Team as our company continues to experience rapid growth. This position will work in the Corporate Office of a reputable, established company in the Cannabis industry.
General Purpose of adding this position:
- To support the Senior Accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting/Finance Department.
- To relieve the Senior staff of some daily and month-end responsibilities, which will free up time for the development of standard operating procedures and various specialized projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recording daily sales activity for several retail stores.
- Reconciling and recording daily activity from our various bank accounts.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable and provide assistance in recording vendor payments.
- Various Journal Entries to record Payroll, Benefits, Intercompany Transactions, Prepaid Transactions, and many other JE’s typical to any business.
- Assist in developing a Month End Close Process, checklist, and deadlines.
- Resolve discrepancies, reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank accounts.
- Maintain a Fixed Asset Register with depreciation schedule for each entity.
- Sales and Use Tax reporting, including industry specific taxes.
- Intercompany Billing and reconciliation.
- Provide support to the Accounting Manager and Staff to ensure that reports are delivered to the Management Team and the Owners in a timely manner.
- Perform complex accounting, technical and analytical work for the organization that requires confidentiality, independent judgement, and detailed knowledge of our industry.
Qualified Applicants will possess the following criteria:
- 4-year degree in Accounting or a degree with emphasis in accounting.
- Previous experience as a GL Accountant, Staff Accountant, or similar (3-5 years desired) ***Will accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must consent to and successfully pass background check and acquire a badge from the Colorado MED.
- Advanced User of QuickBooks software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Microsoft Excel – Advanced user with spreadsheet design, formatting knowledge and use of functions/formulas, creation of pivot tables and similar analytical functions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and business. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
