Job Description:
We are looking for a Head Cultivator to oversee our cannabis production facility, cultivation program and staff management. - The Head Cultivator manages and leads staff of growers, assistant growers, harvest crew, quality control staff, and internal transport staff engaged in the growing, care and maintenance of the company’s horticultural products that are produced for licensed sales.
- Direct the application of technical procedures, timing/metering devices that control frequency, amount and type of nutrient applications; regulate humidity, ventilation, temperature and amount of light; and dispense fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.
- Monitor crop development and the removal of substandard plants to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records of essential growing procedures, attributes and results.
- Ensure facilities are clean and pest-free.
- Provide a team atmosphere to strive for a common goal of high product quality and cooperation and compatibility with peers, supervisors, and management.
- Knowledge of the entire cannabis growth cycle and requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Understand and train team members on pest and disease management techniques.
- Continue learning about horticulture and cannabis farming, and stay on top of current and future trends.
- Organize and document the daily process of transplanting, cloning, defoliation and trimming of plants.
- Ensure growth requirements & consistency of plants (lighting, soil PH, nutrients, etc.).
- Apply indoor farming methods that increase our yields and maximize efficiencies.
- Lead maintenance operations (including waste management and preventing contaminations).
- Diagnose and resolve plant health issues like mold, mildew or other infestations.
- Manage inventory and budgets related cannabis farming (including equipment, security and HVAC systems)
- Coordinate plans for space allocation based on production reports and growth schedules.
- Monitor growing conditions and oversee changes in humidity, moisture, temperature and cultivation procedures to ensure adherence with quality control standards.
- Monitor plant development to ascertain conditions such as leaf texture, bloom size and the existence of pests/disease; removing substandard/diseased plants for quality.
- Determine appropriate use of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides as required by the crops and apply and/or direct the application of them.
- Plan for and request staff on a timely basis to ensure their availability during the high volume growing seasons and schedule overtime as necessary.
- Maintain an awareness of new state-of-the-art equipment and provide input into equipment and facility upgrades and replacement.
- Provide pesticide and safety training to all employees and maintain records as required by Federal or State regulations.
