Job Description:

Under supervision of the Illinois State Police, Division of Criminal Investigations, Cannabis Control Officer Contractual Investigator, the contractual investigator will be responsible for conducting reviews of cultivation and dispensary security plans during the application process; physical inspections of installed security systems; investigations into allegations of the Cannabis Control Program, Cannabis Control Act, Administrative Rules promulgated by the Illinois Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, and other violations of the Illinois Compiled Statutes; providing court testimony related to their investigations; providing statistical data on a monthly basis, educating members of the general public, law enforcement, and other agencies, bodies or groups; and developing liaisons with the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Illinois Department of Revenue, law enforcement agencies, owners, and advocacy groups. Length of Contract: 12 months, with option to review.

Job Requirements:

Contractual investigators will be required to have an Associate's Degree or equivalent and a minimum of ten consecutive years of service as a peace officer as defined by the Illinois Compiled Statutes, with a State, County, or municipal law enforcement agency within Illinois. They must be familiar with computer programs such as Word and Excel, as well as databases such as LEADS 2000, VITAL, Westlaw, and other related databases. They must possess a background in demonstrated police knowledge of criminal investigations and be familiar with Illinois State Police report writing; they must be able to communicate with a wide range of individuals; possess a valid Illinois Driver's license and willing to travel (some overnights); must successfully complete all annual training required for sworn ISP officers (as standards promulgated through the ILCS State Police Act); and must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
