Job Description:

Professional and dependable. You will be expected to work independently and represent the County in the administration and enforcement of business tax programs. A strong relationship builder with excellent communication skills. You will need to establish relationships with businesses and ensure that a consistent message is communicated to a variety of audiences. Creative! You will need to be able to understand the challenges of business tax and recommend innovative ways to assess and administer business tax programs. Customer focused. Your role will require you to be responsive and proactive when addressing customer needs. Organized and ambitious. You will need to balance multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment. A leader. You will coach and develop clerical and technical staff. What you will typically be responsible for: Administering the Business License Tax, Transient Occupancy Tax and Cannabis Tax programs and enforcing provisions to ensure compliance Determining the rates and exemptions for the different business tax programs Auditing books and records to determine the appropriate business classification and tax liability Maintaining accurate business tax account information and writing reports Designing and distributing forms for application, reporting and remittance of business taxes Responding to taxpayers regarding tax refund claims and requests for hearing on disputed assessments
