2017 has been a great year for marijuana users in the US, with many states enacting laws on its favor. Also, Colorado made more than $1 billion in marijuana sales. Now, 2017 is here and there is a new administration to handle things.

This is the best time to focus on what’s coming in the marijuana industry.

Among the primary areas of concern in 2017 include Jeff sessions and California. The recreational marijuana market in California is still in the building phase, many are watching the progress, and expect some good news towards the end of the year.

Another center of focus is the appointment of Jeff Sessions as the Attorney General of the United States. This is a huge milestone because the industry will be kept on check, as far as marijuana laws are concerned. Apart from the above themes, the following are some of the prediction in marijuana industry this year:

LA is set to become the marijuana capital

Many marijuana experts across the country have a strong belief that Los Angeles will become the hub for all the marijuana activities. It will definitely beat Mile High City and others. There are several reasons for this deduction. First of all, the medical marijuana market is almost hitting the $1 billion mark, and sooner the figures will overtake those of entire Colorado market. Secondly, the city is yet to pass the ordinance in 2017. This enactment will put in place the right licensing program and introduce the recreational market. Thirdly, many investors are shifting their attention to the city, thanks to the promising emerging market.

A marijuana sports league will be introduced

Experts argue that there is a possibility of a major sports to green light marijuana. The league will approve the use of cannabis for medical reasons. Athletes from all areas have shifted to using marijuana to treat head injuries and pain and are now avoiding prescribed opiates. At the moment, medical cannabis is legal in 29 states, and athletes are fighting to be treated like other people.

A TV talk show with a marijuana theme will be introduced

According to various studies, many Americans want marijuana to be legalized. And sooner, a major network will be using a marijuana backdrop. It is now more than ten years since a TV program had a weed drop. The series featured a mom who sold weed to earn income. At that time, all this was considered ground breaking. Today we have Mary Jane on MTV and High Maintenance on HBO and so much more.

Recycling marijuana failures

the Cannabis Business Alliance is one of the major bodies in the country that handles all the marijuana issues, and it hopes to work with legislators to come up with various options for cannabis that fail to pass the pesticide testing. At the moment, marijuana producers are supposed to get rid of crops that don’t pass the test. The body is also working on a new law to allow the failed cannabis to be converted into concentrates that are safe to use.

SAN FERNANDO, CA – The number of marijuana business investors is increasing because of its popularity and the natural investment process.

Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is a plant that produces chemicals, that affect people in several ways. The most common effect is getting stoned. However, some smokers experience hunger, happiness, and calmness.
But here’s another effect that only a few people know – getting wealthy. According to the Marijuana Enforcement Division in Colorado, the compound annual growth of the marijuana business has increased by 30 percent. This makes it as one of the fastest-growing industries in America. Therefore, investors should take this field seriously.

But the question is, where should you put your marijuana business investments? There are a few aspects to consider when answering this question.

Stay Away From Publicly Traded Cannabis Companies

There are a few established firms out there, and choosing the right institution is tricky. If you’re one of the new marijuana business investors, your best bet would be to invest in private companies. This means that you need to be a qualified investor.

Search for Institutions With Strong Management Teams

This is evident, but it’s crucial in a community where “stoners” are prevalent. If someone smokes weed before or during the meeting, it could ruin discussions and affect the status of the company.

Avoid Direct Interaction With Cannabis Companies

Some businesses work directly for marijuana corporations. Instead of going straight to such firms, interact with secondary establishments. Examples of such enterprises are Front Range Biosciences, Flowhub, and BDS Analytics. They do not sell cannabis products, but they offer services to marijuana companies.
For instance, the rise of Quickbooks Online indicates that the marijuana industry also needs online fiscal management solutions. However, the challenges involved in cannabis drive entrepreneurs to look for off-the-shelf resolutions. This is where secondary firms come into the picture. These companies help in improving marijuana corporations.

For instance, institutions focusing on robotics can help the industry by offering their robots. This will assist in reducing harvest time; therefore, giving more opportunities to increase sales.

The Movement of State-by-State Details

The last factor that marijuana business investors must consider is the state-by-state intricacy movement. This includes rural versus urban distributions, population and demographic multiplicity, seasonality, and open and closed regulatory agenda.

These changes will affect retailers and cultivators, as well as secondary firms, such as distributors, and packaging companies.

The state-by-state marketing strategy is fascinating yet rare in America. While European countries are familiar with this environment, they are still struggling to adapt to this agenda.

In fact, it’s unlikely that the businesses will succeed if they operate and expand their companies because of these issues. Franchise and marijuana business license arrangements could be manageable.
However, many establishments will concentrate on one or two states in the upcoming years. This is despite the growing industry and evolving supply chain.

Therefore, marijuana business investors must concentrate on technologies and services that help new cannabis firms. As the weed industry grows, so will the requirement for these products and services, irrespective of regulatory hurdles.

The Cannabis, an Indian hemp plant more commonly known as Marijuana, has been a controversial subject as of late. It is known for containing chemical compounds such as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) making it a mind-altering drug. Due to its psychoactive properties, it is one of the most abused drugs in the world.
Despite the stigma attached to drugs and drug users, people have been pushing for the legalization of marijuana for a variety of reasons.

Marijuana and the Economy

One of the most powerful driving forces in the legalization of marijuana is the impact the cannabis industry brings to the country’s economy.

Between January 1 and April 21 of 2017, companies related to marijuana have earned around $734 million according to Viridian Capital Advisors and New Frontier Data. With growth in sales, there will also be an increase in tax revenues.

An example would be Colorado’s total revenues from marijuana taxes (including licenses and fees) which came to $72.8 million, as of October 2016. Colorado is one of the states where marijuana is legal and can be used recreationally.

Aside from this, pushing for the legalization of marijuana means pushing for more jobs generated as cannabis nurseries and dispensaries need to be set up. This means billions in labor income.
There is no denying that there will be a considerable amount of money gained in the industry. But whether or not the monetary value will offset the controversy surrounding the use of the drug is yet to be seen.

Marijuana and Medicine

Another reason why cannabis supporters are for the legalization of marijuana is due to its medicinal properties.
One chemical compound found in marijuana, cannabidiol (CBD) has been used in the treatment of childhood epilepsy. A medical marijuana strain that’s high CBD and low THC has been used and recommended to treat children’s seizures. The main cannabinoid chemical, THC, has also been found to control seizures according to experiments conducted by a professor of neurology, Dr. Robert J. DeLorenzo.

Researchers have also found that CBD may be a cure for cancer. The researchers of California Pacific Medical Center treated breast cancer cells with cannabidiol in laboratory conditions. Cells that were treated had a decrease in Id-1 gene expression and became less aggressive spreaders.

Cannabis compounds also show promise in treating Alzheimer’s, pain and muscle spasms.

With all this, supporters argue that if the legalization of marijuana fails at the recreational level, it should at least be considered at the medical level.

States of Marijuana

As of 2017, there are eight states where marijuana can legally be used recreationally. California, the first state to legalize cannabis (medically at least) allows the use and handling of up to an ounce of marijuana without a doctor’s prescription. The others are Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Washington D.C.

The legalization of marijuana, despite the support of some states, is still a controversial topic with both pros and cons to consider. The plant itself shows a lot of promise but it all boils down to whether or not it will be abused by the people.

You may not be a user and just curious, or you are a user and want to know how long does marijuana stay in your body until you are clear of it again.

Regardless of your purpose for using this herb grass, it stays on your system for a long time. If you take a drug test, it is likely that you will get caught.

How Long Does It Take for My System to be Clean?

The answer to this question is not that simple. There are several factors that determine the duration and effect of weed in your body. The most common factors are the following:

– The metabolism rate of the person

– The level of tolerance toward the toxin

– The body weight of the person

– The overall health of the person

– The frequency of using marijuana

Marijuana contains tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is a chemical substance that is fat soluble. When you consume the cannabis plant, it penetrates the fat cells of the body. It reaches the vital organs in your body including the kidneys, liver, and brain. It reaches your blood vessels and body organs and stays there forever.

The THC chemical also reaches your hair follicles. It will stay there unless you cut all of your hair. During a drug test, in order to find out if there is a presence of marijuana in the system, the test detects a by-product of the THC, which is the 9-carboxy-THC.

When it comes to the effects of weed in the body system, it is quite hard to pin point the exact time of consumption and when the body starts to experience the effects.

Half-Life

What medical experts do is to use an estimation that they called half-life. They use it to determine the timeframe that the weed remains in the system. The following are the various half-life period that experts use to estimate the presence of marijuana in the body:

– Constant user – over 90 days

– Regular user – over 45 days

– Occasional user – over 10 days

Basically, smoking weed will cause THC to stay in your body fat for a long time. If you have plenty of fats, then it stays much longer.

CLEVELAND, Ohio –Ohio has legalized the use of marijuana, also known as cannabis, a preparation of the Cannabis plant that can be used as a psychoactive drug or as medicine. The state’s law on medical marijuana was submitted in June 2016. The law simply states that patients who meet any of the approved 21 medical conditions are given the privilege to buy and use marijuana if prescribe by a doctor who is registered in the state.

However, this legalization is still bound by rules. No one can immediately go to a cannabis seller to buy weed. Gov. John Kasich created a program last Wednesday which is carefully regulated by three government agencies. One of the regulations of the program is to ban the recreational use of weed. It is also illegal to grow marijuana in one’s residence.

To be able to consume medical marijuana, you must have one of the 21 medical conditions that were approved for the medical use of the drug. Some of these conditions include Alzheimer’s disease, HIV/AIDS, cancer, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Chron’s disease, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, fibromyalgia, seizure or epilepsy, hepatitis C, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic to severe pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD), Parkinson’s disease, intractable pain, spine injury or illnesses, sickle cell anemia, brain trauma, ulcerative colitis, and Tourette’s syndrome. However, an individual is welcome to file a petition to add more medical conditions to the list.

In addition to the approved list of medical conditions, the physician who will make the diagnosis must be a registered doctor in the state. The doctor must have undergone some training about medical marijuana before giving prescriptions to patients. Moreover, the patient to be registered for marijuana use will be further examined by the Ohio State Pharmacy Board.

The patients who meet the conditions set by the law and have the doctor’s prescription may use medical marijuana starting this September. However, there is no clear indication about the dispensaries patients can get their medical marijuana from.

Even though the medical use of marijuana has been legalized, the state is still in the process of adding and drafting some rules to properly regulate its use. Some of these rules are about cannabis business operations and dispensaries, which include the processing, growing, and selling of cannabis.

Ohio plans to provide 24 licenses for small marijuana business operations. At least half of these 24 licenses provides the right to have a growing space that should not be more than 3,000 sq. ft. The other should not have a growing space that is more than 25,000 sq. ft. The application for the licenses has been opened since June 5, 2017, and it will close by the end of June.

For this reason, there are some investors who are looking forward to be working in the marijuana industry. There are business-minded individuals who are already taking advantage of this opportunity by raising capital and looking for a good business location. However, Ohio won’t consider providing a growing license to any site in a host city with a growing moratorium.

Marijuana weed growing must be done indoors and must be 500 ft. away from libraries, churches, and schools. The drafting of rules and regulations of the law are expected to be done on September 8 of this year. The full operation of the law is expected to start on September 2018.

Marijuana is still a highly restricted product despite being legally accepted in a growing number of states. Legal access to marijuana products is limited to dispensaries that are manned by expert, “budtenders.” With over 8,000 marijuana strains to choose from, plus with the emergence of creative entrepreneurs — often referred to as “ganjapreneurs” — offering innovative marijuana products, the consumer is in a conundrum on what marijuana brand to get. For the cannabis market, branding gets most of the job done. Developing a good brand through good packaging design is a strategy that these entrepreneurs use to get around restrictions on marketing and advertising. How do these branded marijuana products move from the shelves and into the consumer’s bag? Here are a few strategies that these new wave ganjapreneurs are using.

Follow State Restrictions

The first thing to do is to know what the state regulations and restrictions are with regards to packaging marijuana products. Different states have different legal tolerance levels on the product. A common restriction is that the marijuana product should come in childproof packaging. Another restriction is for the product to either come in single dose sizes or be presented with single dose measure options. A re-sealable mechanism for multiple dose options is also required to keep the marijuana product in good condition for future use.

Listen to the Consumer

After taking legal restrictions into consideration, the next step is to apply insights from the consumer’s needs and wants into the packaging design. There has been consumer feedback wherein they want discretion in marijuana consumption. This insight has given rise to packaging options that offer portability and smallness: smaller packaging for pills, slim and sleek vape pens, single rolls and cigars, single dose infused coffee pods and tea bags. Since marijuana’s legalization, surprise sectors that are steadily growing are the female consumers and the wealthy older consumers. Women still buy most of the products needed for the home and family members. Baby boomers, the segment to which wealthy consumers belong, have bigger disposable incomes. Smart ganjapreneurs have cashed in on this insight by investing in packaging design that has a clean contemporary appeal. Design aesthetics range from luxurious to organic to homey to old school pharmacy, depending on the product carried.

Build trust

Cannabis entrepreneurs are aware that the ultimate push they will get for their products is building the customer experience anchored on trust. The ultimate aim is to assure the marijuana product’s quality and integrity as validated by relevant scientific data. Some packaging designs capitalize on these features through a visual look that communicates the product as integral to one’s wellness and healthy living. Product education is integrated into the design through a listing of ingredients, active ingredient levels, manufacturer’s history, product strain story, and scientific test performance, among others.

The cannabis market is poised for remarkable growth within the next five years. Despite legal restriction in marketing and advertising, a variety of new marijuana products are starting to fill the shelves of the dispensaries. Packaging is the first medium through which consumers encounter the product. Smart packaging design that incorporates government mandates with stand out visual appeal will move the product from the shelves to the consumer.

SAN FERNANDO, Calif. – Legal Marijuana is one of the fastest growing industries in America. According to ArcView, sales reached $6.9 billion last year. They also predict that it could grow up to $21.6 billion by 2021.

Nonetheless, entrepreneurs are still facing problems. One of which is their status as a Schedule 1 substance. This means that banks are afraid of giving services to marijuana industry businesses.

Thus, entrepreneurs have to monitor not only their products but also their revenues. Tax services also need to adjust their security measures to keep the cashflow steady.

However, financial security is only one of the primary issues. Employees are in peril because people know that they will earn a big amount of cash from them.

Transportation is another problem. Cannabis products need to move from cultivators to distributors. The same thing goes for money. It needs to move between companies to state establishments for tax payments. Some entrepreneurs like armored vehicles while others prefer sending out two to three cars.

While these are the concerns of many companies, they still offer marijuana jobs for veterans. Military training is a perfect skill in this field. Many veterans are having a tough time in finding a new job once they get out of the military. Indeed, unemployment among ex-troopers is a common issue.

Fortunately, many marijuana industry group jobs offer positions for those who served in the military. However, before applying for marijuana jobs for veterans, there are a few things you must do.

Step 1: Do Your Research

If you don’t have experience or knowledge in the marijuana industry, there’s nothing to worry about. You can do your research about this field. This will give you a perfect opportunity to find marijuana jobs for veterans and to get a position.

Thanks to the internet, it’s now easier to do your research and look for marijuana jobs for veterans. You only need to know what you need to search for and read as often as you can. Here are some tactics that you need to consider.

Read books that are suggested on the reading list of cannabis colleges, companies, and universities.

Buy cannabis-related books written by experts like Jorge Cervantes and Ed Rosenthal.

Ask your friends or anyone you know about the books they’ve read or websites they visit.

Register at every marijuana website, newsletter, blog, and mailing list.

If you could, attend marijuana industry conferences.

The goal of conducting this research is to be familiar with the history, the language, and the people. If you have no idea where to begin, you can ask questions like, “Where do you get information?” or “Who do you admire?”

Step 2: What Is Your Mission?

When applying for marijuana jobs for veterans, your priority should be to understand the company’s mission. You also have to make sure you talk about their mission when someone interviews you. As potential workers of the firm, the company’s mission is your shared goal that connects everyone together.

During the interview, show how much you care about their mission. Talk about how you can help in reaching the company’s goals.

If the firm only wants to earn money, turn around and look for another company. There are several institutions where financial gain is an acceptable goal. However, medical marijuana industry jobs are not one of them. When looking for marijuana jobs for veterans, make sure you and the company share similar beliefs.

Find an organization that aims to help cure patients by taking cannabis products. If you can’t see this vision, then you’re in the wrong company.

Step 3: Your Work Is the Family You Choose

One thing employers consider when hiring a new employee is if he can work along with the team. Applicants need to work 10 to 12 hours a day once they get the position. This means that you will spend a lot of time with your co-workers.

If the employer thinks you can’t handle the job, he won’t hire you. Therefore, you need to leave a good impression and show them you’re fit for the available position.

If you prove to be the right person, you become part of the team that carries out the company’s mission. However, if you don’t like the culture and values of the firm, it may affect your working relationship and performance.

While there are a few things you can do to leave a good impression, don’t forget to be real. It’s better if they know who you are before they hire you then get fired because of your work ethics.

Step 3: Ask the Right Questions

When applying for marijuana jobs for veterans, don’t be afraid to ask questions during the interview. An interested applicant shows that you’re eager to join the company. Think of it as a conversation and not as an interview. Not only will you get information about the enterprise, but it will make the conversation a lot easier.

Some of the questions you could ask are as follows:

What is the firm has done that you’re proud of?

If you were the applicant, what would you concentrate on improving?

If you could take one decree from another state, what would it be?

This is only the beginning of your journey. You still need to sell yourself if you want to get one of the available marijuana jobs for veterans.

Throughout the years, people in different places have continuously been using Marijuana; may it be for medical purposes or not. With this, there are already some places where the use of it has already been legalized. This leads us to wonder: how do other countries get their supply? How marijuana supply chain operates in different places therefore serves as an interesting topic. This article will give an overview on how marijuana supply chain operates in small-scale operations.

Step 1: Growing the Cannabis Plants

On small scale and usually illegalized operations, a small group of people or even only one person grows the Cannabis plants. Growing Cannabis plants can easily be done in an extra bedroom or attic. It can even be done in a closet. In other cases, some grow the plants in secluded outdoor plots where it cannot easily be discovered. In cases where Cannabis is simply grown in the house, lighting and other equipment needed are purchased in hydroponics stores. On the other hand, the seeds can be purchased either online or from other growers as will.

Step 2: Processing the Weed

The process involves growing, drying, and weighing the weed afterwards. Weed is usually sold in different proportions. It usually depends on how much the customer prefers to buy. Weed is therefore packed in small and big bulks. These are then sold either to low-level or mid-level dealers.

Step 3: Ready-to-use Marijuana is Sold to Buyers

When Marijuana is already packed and ready to be sold, it is through the dealers that growers sell their finished product. How marijuana supply chain operates is actually a simple process. Interested buyers make transactions through the dealer and the dealer is the only one who contacts the grower. What makes the supply chain reach a lot more people is because primary buyers buy in bulks from the dealers and they repack and resell the herb.

Since marijuana-selling is usually a small and discreet business, transactions are done in cash most of the time. With this, it is important for sellers to pick customers whom they can trust. That is why sales transactions occur from friends to friends most of the time. Delivering the produce is probably the most risky part of the job in places where weed is illegal. It is always convenient for sellers when buyers are the ones who meet them for the product, rather than the other way around.

There is also usually no bookkeeping record of transactions for those who operate on this business, simply because transactions are always direct and simple. Moreover, transactions of buying and selling are usually done on the same town. It is always a risky job to procure marijuana from a different town. Whenever there is a person that is able to sell it in a specific town, this usually means that there is also a marijuana grower somewhere in the same town. This is how the supply chain usually operates in a smaller scale.

Meanwhile, there is rarely an occurrence of large-scale transactions simply because of the risk it brings. There are also large-scale growers in some places who process their transactions through shipments. However, this is a very risky situation since you would have to hide it in different hidden places that cannot easily be expected for it to be shipped. Usually, how marijuana supply chain operates successfully on a larger scale is when you have connections with authorities or powerful people that can cover up for the transactions.

In general, people cooperate in buying and selling marijuana either for the profit or simply because they want to help others have access to it. Usually, it is always the growers and primary buyers who get a lot of money in selling marijuana. Resellers only make a small amount of money, as this is also only a small-scale business. There are variations on how marijuana supply chain operates, but the important thing is to be able to make fast and discreet transactions.

Is Patent 6630507 a familiar part of your marijuana activism vocabulary ? it should be. If you are a pot smoker, or someone who needs marijuana for medical issues, this number means a lot to you. It isn’t your ordinary number; it’s a proof that marijuana can act as a medicine.

What is Patent 6630507?

Patent 6630507 was released by the U.S government back in 1999. It is discussed there that cannabis has multiple beneficial benefits. The scientists from National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) was the one filed the patent, and it is entitled as “Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants”. The patent 6630507 is the reason why people have a basis for their advocacy in terms of legalizing marijuana use.

According to patent 6630507, cannabis has the capability to help a patient with Alzheimer’s, HIV dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and more. It also helps with the treatment of autoimmune diseases and oxidation related diseases such as ischemic ones. Marijuana is also a great help for people who are suffering from glaucoma, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, asthma, insomnia, rheumatism, and more. It is an affordable way as well to cure these diseases. However, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) declines this fact alongside the patent 6630507.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) indicated that marijuana doesn’t have any medical value, which contradicts patent 6630507. They classified cannabis as a dangerous drug and refused to let researchers study marijuana for further investigation. People believed that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is afraid that the prohibition of cannabis will end, which could mean losing their supporters and having a threat to their budget.

They continually prohibit the use of cannabis even though the U.S. government has the proof. What troubles the people more is their statement disclaiming its medical benefits and declaring it as a dangerous drug. But for people who need it for medical purposes, it is a valuable thing. It is their way to treat themselves and move on from the disease that they are experiencing faster. People will not let this pass because this is not a small deal for them.

Even the DEA’s administrative judge, Judge Francis Young, recommended that they should permit the access and use of marijuana in the field of medicine. In 1988, Judge Young reviewed all of the evidence for the issue and came upwith a list of obvious proofs that it relieves the difficulty of patients. He believed that allowing people to use it, provided that it is under medical supervision, would help alleviate the disease symptoms of the entitled patients. He also stated that it is irrational that the DEA would stand between the patients and the health benefits of cannabis.

Judge Young also said that it is the safest medicinally-active substance that we all know. Marijuana is a natural medicine that is even safer than some of the foods that we consume in our daily lives. However, even after his statement, DEA still refuse to legalize the use of cannabis.

Talk to the Hand Advocacy

Many people were angry because of this matter. Knowing that there is a patent saying that it has medicinal benefits but DEA still refused to honor it. Social media platforms were buzzing and supportingthe Talk to the Hand advocacy. People were writing the numbers 6630507 on their hand and taking a picture of it. Supporters of Talk to the Hand pledge to continue standing and fighting for cannabis and its medical benefits.

The starter of the trend, Amy Hilterbran, is a medical cannabis advocate. She said that the patent is enough evidence that the medicinal qualities of marijuana are factual and relevant to today’s issues surrounding health and medicine. It has sufficient evidence that the plant is not lethal or toxic. There are stories where we heard that it’s an effective medicine to cure conditions, ailments, and other diseases, and these are supported with scientifically-based facts and studies. Patients want to fight for the right to acquire and use it for their own cure and they’re not going to back down.

People are asking why would the government deny the medical benefits of cannabis even though they are holding a patent that is contradicting their statement. Hilterbran said that the patent obviously eliminated marijuana as part of the Controlled Substances Act too. Do you agree with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or are you an advocate of the Talk to the Hand? Either way, we all know how cannabis was able to help severe medical conditions. It would hurt the country’s people if a helpful medicine isn’t allowed to cure them or their family.

This is an Oho Herer exclusive story, stay tuned as he puts out a new piece of media to make the stoner mind expand its horizon every week.

The Israeli government approved a new sanction for marijuana users. Though the personal usage of cannabis is still illegal in the country, it is still considered as a big change. Marijuana has been prohibited in Israel for a long time compared to other countries. It is somewhat a new step for a bigger and brighter future for marijuana law in Israel. Here’s what marijuana users should know about this new policy.

Small Steps

This step is somewhat considered as a small step and it would be beneficial for marijuana users. The Holy Land is one of the places where marijuana is banned for a long time. Since it’s unlawful, people who have been caught usually face serious charges. However, the sanction has been lowered down when the Israeli government approved it. It is showing that marijuana users are not criminals.

The Fine

Most of the time, marijuana users that were caught will face criminal charges. With the new policy, people who have been foundusing cannabis will start paying the fine instead of facing the criminal charges. For first offense, they have to pay the fine of 1,000 shekels or $270. The amount for the second offense will be doubled. The third offense will be a forced trial period for the user.

Police will only press criminal charges on the fourth time marijuana usersspotted using it in public. A person who possesses cannabis will also face criminal charges.

The Decision

The new policy created a buzz for the people of Israel. Some of them agreed on it but not all of them. The two active lawmakers for cannabis in Israel had different thoughts. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud, SharrenHaskel, stated that it may be an important step but it is still considered as a decriminalization. Since cannabis users can still face serious criminal charges if caught.

The Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan stated that it is an essential step. According to Erdan, it is a better way to treat people and educate them. He formed the committee for investigating personal consumptionof cannabis in July. The decision may be a small step but it will change surely change the community.

Erdan is a supporter of decriminalization of marijuana in Israel. If the government will adopt the initiative of Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, it may end the long antiquity of criminal prohibition for it. Tamar Zandberg also welcomes the decision and does not oppose to that. The Israeli government will create an inter-ministerial board for the implantation of the new policy which will be submitted on March 7.

The plan is only applicable for people who are using cannabis for personal or recreational purpose. Buying, producing and selling are still forbiddenin Israel.

Opinions and Possible Outcome

This is considered as a first step for the law of marijuana in Israel. Tamar Zandberg said that it may be an important step but it is not the end. A lot of issues and policiesare still to come and the government will investigate and examine everything clearly. The new policy is a message for the people of Israeli that not all cannabis users are criminal.

The government will still study the ways and rules on how they can regulate the use of marijuana in Israel. And it does not mean that the country will have a style like the Netherlands or Amsterdam where coffee shops are available. There are still rules and regulations that people needs to follow in order to keep the peace.

Knowing that the Holy Land is slowly accepting the fact that there are a lot of changes when it comes to its use is good for the people. There’s still a long road that we will take and we are ready for it.
